So today has gotten away from me more than a bit. I had planned to start the new news section of Blueroof Productions but instead I have really done nothing today. This can not stand. What is the news section you ask? Oh I'm so glad that you did. I was really fishing for someone to ask, I don't know if you noticed that or not. Oh you did? Damn, here I thought I was slick. Guess not.
Anyways, I was thinking about what else I wanted to do with Blueroof productions and I noticed I don't review movies nearly as much as I should. I need to fix that, and while I'm at it lets review TV shows too. Basically, anything that I like and am a fan of, I will not write a blog about it. On it's very own page because . . . why not? I know, I know, I'm doing way too much, but eh what the hell. We only live once and we should try and get the most out of it we can. Anything you want to do, go do. If you fail you fail but at least you tried your best. That is all anyone can really ask of you. So I thought I would start a weekly blog on my favorite show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Now I know what you guys are thinking; doesn't he already have a podcast on this topic? You're right I do!
http://www.blueroofproductions.com/sunnydale-live But that isn't as in depth as I would like. Part of it is that Lawrence hasn't seen the show before or the fact that we don't do the podcast as much as I'd like. So I thought lets jump farther and farther into the buffyverse. So the question becomes, where do I start? The Buffy movie? The first episode the TV show? Eh how about the comic books? That sounds about right. So today, the first issue in the Buffyverse will be the topic of our conversation. So what is it? Well like the title says (Yes I named the blog after the issue, go figure) it's the prologue of Tales of the Slayer. It's a dark tale about the first slayer. Now over the show we start to learn bits and pieces of her story. After all she lived in a time long since forgotten. The story starts off as she dusts a vampire. Her mind on the task at hand. A young girl from the village brings her food and asks her to leave. She tells her what the shadow men did to her. Who are the Shadow Men? Well they are the men who gave the slayer her powers, they are the people who would go on to form the Watchers Council. Shady, shady people, these Shadow Men. The first slayer listens to the girl, who tells her she is sorry for asking her to leave, even tells her why the people are afraid of her. That in order to make her the slayer the Shadow Men had to put the essence of a demon inside her. Making her something else, something not human. It is a heartbreaking thing to witness, someone being gifted/cursed to be able to make a difference in the world and for her troubles the rest of the world will turn its back on her. The first slayer seems to understand that this is her lot in life and the knowledge that there will be other girls, other slayers in the future brought a smile to her face. And why not, she was no longer alone. It is only fitting that the first story to take place in this universe is written by non other than Joss Whedon himself. Uncanny Fans is jumping to a 2 episodes a week format. In the second episode of the week Jonathan will talk about the history of comic books and spotlight a character. This episode is the years 1934-1937 and the character is Storm. Enjoy!
I can't believe that this blog has been going on and off for 4 years now. It's too bad that I haven't been more constant. I'm trying to build a future for myself, turn Blueroof Productions into a company that we as a nation can be proud of.
I've come to understand that no one will help you get to where you want to be. You have to work hard and not let anyone or anything get in the way of what you want. You have to knuckle down and work hard. Life is full of distractions. It will do anything and everything it can to block you out. You notice when you start working on your goals that a lot of friends will start to bail on you, start to take you for granted. When this happens, you have two options. You can either let it get to you. Let it break your spirit, much the way losing a subscriber on Youtube did for me yesterday. Somehow I got them back today and it more or less made up for it. I guess it just comes down to what means more to you. Your dreams or the people who say they are your friends. So today or well yesterday did not go as planned. I mean when if you haven't gone to sleep yet does it can't as a new day? These are the important questions that one must ask themselves when writing a blog late at night because you are a bit annoyed.
So the plan was to record the three parts of Uncanny Fans; The Hidden Pages, The 4th Wall and Jon's Corner. We kind of recorded the 4th wall. It wasn't as good as it could have been but it is funny and on a comedy podcast isn't that what is most important? Now we don't have a Hidden Pages or Jon's corner and I am faced with a choice. Do I accept defeat or just do a one man show this week? Part of me thinks that a one man show would be best, that way i don't miss an episode. Ashley gets on her soapbox about the king himself Elvis!
