We start off in a San Francisco that is still apart of Mexico where the sliders are standing on a corner and trying to get work. Kind of like how illegals do in America. It is social commentary on how we treat people who are just trying to make a living in a place that doesn't accept them. Remy even has a line that is a bit heavy handed about it, "I hate being an illegal alien in a land that use to be mine." It drives home the point they were trying to make with the scene.
The military shows up and tries to round them up but everyone takes off running. Quinn ends up alone and separated from the others with only one day left on this world. He hops over a gate to hide and hits his head hard, before he could try and escape he is cornered by dogs and saved by a pretty maid. She brings him inside and takes care of him. She tells him to keep his voice down so that her boss doesn't hear him. She is hiding him as he recovers. Nice lady. Quinn seems to know her. They grew up together on Earth Prime. It turns out that back as a kid Quinn was in love with her. We also learn that her current boyfriend was the Canadian man who was captured at the round up in the start of the episode. The other sliders are in court being tried for sneaking into the country. A lawyer is getting flustered trying to defend them. They don't even get a real trial and are ordered deported. Quinn tells his ex's double about the timer and sliding and offers to take her to another world. She asks about her boyfriend. She loves him and it hurts Quinn but he promises to help him as well. Quinn meets the girl's brother, played by his real life brother who will go on to play his character's brother in a few seasons. Very cool. With two hours to go before the slide, Quinn and his new friends help break the others out of the prison bus, including the girls boyfriend. The cops show up and arrest everyone, we learn that her boyfriend set them all up to get a pardon. Quinn tries to get her to come with him but her brother is shot so she stays and he slides with the others. The new world they land on is once again back to having English as the natural language. We also learn that they are not home and only have 7 hours left. Quinn is still shaken up by meeting his ex and goes out drinking with Remy to talk it over. Sometimes it really does help just to sit back and have a few beers with your friends as you talk about the past and girls and your problems. It is one of the simple truths of the world. Remy talks Quinn into trying to find the girl on this world. He finds her house and just shows up. She recognizes him. She had been crying when he showed up but invites him in anyway. On this world Quinn moved away in 10th grade instead of her. She had been missing him since as he had on his world. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't he dating Wade at this point? If so, why did he invite her to come sliding with him? But it doesn't matter, she is dating the same asshole on this world as she was on the last. They have a kid and he is an abusive asshole, oh and they are married. How much fun this must be for everyone. The guy tries to fight Quinn but he knocks him out cold. She then asks Quinn if he could take her with him. He says he can't take the baby with them, it wouldn't be safe. Her husband then kicks her out. he made everything worse for her. Great guy. Well maybe he is, he calls this world's Quinn and sends her to go find him. He is setting himself up with his dream girl, just another version of himself. She kisses him goodbye, how sweet, unless he is dating Wade, than just not cool. We land on a third world where Quinn, Remy and Arturo are locked in a cell in prison clothes. They are in prison and the timer is acting up. Instead of counting down it is counting up. They have the same lawyer and we hear that there is nothing to be done. The verdict is final. Arturo gets a copy of the transcript of the trial. It seems that they were arrested for the murder of Quinn's ex double. They are sent to the court for arraignment. It is the first sign that on this world is going backward in time. They even have the same judge that deported them and Wade is there with them. Quinn notices that the clock is going backward. He puts it altogether and pleads guilty so that everything jumps backward in time again. Wade and Remy aren't sure what is going on but go along with it. Quinn tells them someone should let them out of their handcuffs and he is proven correct. Arturo explains that there is no reason time goes the way it does. On this world it goes the other way for everyone but them and it's jarring because it doesn't fit. Remy and the others want to lay low but Quinn wants to save his ex and drags his friends along with him. The cops find them and they split up, but not before Arturo tells them that he thinks they will slide just after the murder. Another time jumps saves Quinn and Remy from being caught. I love how they keep dealing with the same people on each world, it is a cool idea, and well done but this last part should have been a whole episode on its own. It's such a cool idea. Playing around with time like this. Quinn spots her husbands double with a rifle and starts yelling at him, but then figures out he isn't the killer. He is protecting her. Quinn spots her real killer and tries to warn her but it's too late. She is still shot and her partner kills her attacker. They blame Quinn for messing everything up and getting her shot, but what they don't know is that Quinn saved her life. Oh and once again she is dating this asshole. Quinn walks away defeated. Arturo tells them to look up at the sky as a hole rips through the fabric of time itself. Quinn fucked up time itself. The ground itself starts shaking as the timer opens up. They go backward into the vortex leaving this world to an uncertain future. Who knows what happens next, if there is even a next on this world now. They arrive on a fourth world and have over 3 days here. Remy tells Quinn he can call her again but he decides not to. It's a great episode about letting go and learning that you can't always fix everything, and sometimes even when you can, you shouldn't.

Welcome to the blog all about Sliders, this entry is all about the western episode written by Scott Smith Miller. A young boy is practicing shooting as the vortex opens and our heroes come sliding out. He sees the whole thing. They ask the boy where the nearest restaurant is and he gives them directions. They set off but not before Wade gives one of her famous anti-men lines.
It seems on this world San Fran is apart of Texas. As a Californian who moved to Texas let me just say that is a crying shame. It breaks my heart. In this bar we see that the stock market is shown above the bar. Quinn breaks up a bar fight and the man grabs Wade and pulls her in as a hostage. Quinn demands he let her go and the man tosses Quinn a gun, telling him he has till the count of three to draw. Quinn fires and kills the man in self-defense. The look on your face tells you how sick he feels about it. But honestly, what would you do? If it was me and I could either shoot or die, I'd shot and I'm sure most if not all of you would have too. The greatest instinct any living creature has is survival. Everyone seems to be celebrating Quinn who is in shock as the police show up. They arrest Quinn and we learn that lawyers use guns on this world to deal with conflicts. Arturo finally shows up as the police car drives away. A lawyer shows up to collect Quinn. The sheriff doesn't want to at first but the lawyer punks him out. Quinn is scared and who can blame him. Quinn is brought before the boss of the man who he killed. Quinn is confused and scared and offered a job. This is a weird world. Very weird indeed. Quinn calls to let Remy and the others know he is ok before going back to the lawyer showing him around. Even this new bar is giving Quinn cheers for killing the man. This world seems to love its murderers. A man calls out Quinn out in the middle of the bar. Seems he wants the job that Quinn was just offered. The lawyer showing Quinn around kills him instead, saving Quinn. If I were Quinn, I'd be counting down the seconds till I was off this messed up world. Quinn makes it back to the hotel drunk out of his mind. Everyone wants to kill Quinn and prove they are better than him. Wade tells Remy they need to get out of town first thing in the morning. We learn that the man who is trying to hire Quinn is also trying to steal the company from a woman who has a chip that is going to change computers forever. She needs help fast or she will lose everything. The guilt is starting to wash over Quinn and nothing he can do can change that. The damn kid from the beginning is already looking up to Quinn and thinks he is the greatest hero every. Wade tries to tell him that Quinn doesn't like killing but the kid doesn't want to hear it. The lady who has the chip, and also happens to be the mother of the boy goes to talk to Quinn once she finds out he isn't a gun swinger. She tells him that she is the one who killed the guy not Quinn. Just then that lawyer who saved him shows up and asks Quinn to go with him. She tells Quinn to play along. The two of them start shooting target practice and we see just how bad Quinn is at shooting. The lady asks Remy to sit in for her at a poker game, a poker game that controls her stock. She tells him just to fold every time. She can't afford anymore than that. This world is insane. Her attorney who was supposed to play poker for her was killed. Remy folds on a fullhouse. What the hell!! The police won't even look into the murder. They just send Wade away. What cowards. The law firms turns on Quinn, thinking he is working with the woman. They try to punk Quinn out but he bluffs his way out of the office. Thank God that worked otherwise he would have been dead. The lawyer who helped Quinn out gets fired for Quinn's action. Meanwhile Remy started playing for real and is cleaning house for the lady. Wade tells Remy to cash out. The rest of the table is not happy. A hostel take over is under way. Things are going down and fast. The kid keeps talking about how great Quinn is but they all just send him away. He calls Quinn a coward as he runs off. The kid steals Quinn's gun. She either has to give up the company or Quinn dies. That is when Wade notices that the gun is gone and they all chase after the kid who is nowhere to be seen. He walks into the bad guys office with his gun pulled out. He is ready to fire, he tells them who he is and why he is after them. Quinn shows up just in time and starts trying to talk the kid down. The kid listens and gives Quinn the gun just as the sheriff shows up. Once more Wade goes on a rant, this time against guns. Quinn gets ready to go up against the best gun in the east. Quinn is going to die. Everyone shows up to watch the showdown. Quinn takes off his gunbelt and the gunman says he is still going to shoot. Quinn then starts giving a speech to everyone. He then calls out the sheriff. The gunman is ordered to shoot but he won't do it. The boss pulls out his gun but the lawyer who helped Quinn before stands in the way. Others move into the way blocking Quinn from dying as well. Arturo opens the vortex. The Sheriff arrests the boss and the woman's company is saved. More so by the fact that Remy won her all that money for it. The Sliders made things better on this world. I'm back to talk about one of the greatest shows of all time, Sliders! This episode written by Tony Blake & Paul Jackson starts off with the sliders landing on a new world where they will spend the next 3 days and 6 hours.
This world has women everywhere and the sliders don't really notice until a little girl brings attention to them. A group of women rush them and at first Remy thinks that it is because Remy is a star again but they quickly learn as they are arrested that that is not the case. Only Wade escapes. Arturo and Remy are loving this world but Quinn is worried that something is wrong, we learn soon that he is right. They are on a world where men are all but wiped out so the few that are left are put into camps and forced to breed. The Sliders will never be allowed to leave the breeding center. A random man decides to help them escape, his sister and wife are planning a break out for him and for whatever reason he invites the sliders along. His sister storms the camp and the police give chase as the sliders and random man go over the wall. They make it back to the house and relax a bit while they wait for Wade to show up. She is at the hotel where women are lined up just waiting to get on a list to breed with a random man. She gets a call telling her where to meet with them and the police over hear. Wade makes it to the house and at first pretends not to have the timer giving everyone a heart attack. She pulls it out and everyone has a good laugh, at least till the cops show up. They escape but only get s far before the cops find them again and capture Quinn and Arturo. The others get away. I love this episode so much, it always reminds me of a scifi channel movie that I saw when I was kid. It came out around the same time and was called the last man on planet Earth. If you guys like this episode check it out. A random lady saves Quinn from being taken by the cops and takes him back to her house. No sign of Arturo and the Sliders only have a couple of hours left until the slide. She shows him a flyer showing that he and his friends are still wanted so Arturo, while not with the others hasn't been arrested either. It seems that the Australians must have him. Wade and Remy have to break in and slide out from there. The only problem with their plan is that Quinn is not there like they think he is. Arturo is being prepped to send to Australia and one of the soldiers wants some alone time with him. Wade dresses Remy as a woman so that they can go outside but he won't save his stash, can't say I blame him. I hate being clean shaven. The man who got them out of the center is waiting, most likely to turn himself in to save his wife. Poor guy, all of his problems come from the fact that he decided to help the Sliders out. He didn't have to and maybe shouldn't have. Arturo gets Wade's attention and she demands to see Arturo and Quinn, they learn that Quinn isn't there. The Australians get ready to ship the three of them back home but Wade promises that she can get them the all-star American breeder. Meanwhile Quinn is having no luck finding his friends. The lady asks Quinn to father her child and he says that he doesn't want to father a child that he will never see. Something that as a bastard myself I can understand. Wade tells the man who helped them that she can free his girlfriend and keep him free as well. Wade and her damn plans. She makes a deal with the cop and fed, her friends for the all-star, she also tells them that the all-star is about to be given a virus so he can't breed anymore so their hands are tied. Wade then tricks both sides into meeting under the bridge. The other catch to Wade's plan was the wife being freed. The trade is almost done but Wade isn't there and no Quinn either. The man takes off running into the van where Arturo and Remy were sitting. Turns out that Wade stole disabled the cops van and showed up with her own. Everyone is together but Quinn. They head to the spot they told him to meet them and there he is. She opens the vortex and drives through it. Quinn jumps in after them just as the cops show up. The man who saved them and his wife are on a new world now where they can be happy and not have to worry about being split up. The episode ends on the lady who helped Quinn smiling and looking at a picture of her husband. Did Quinn try and give her a child? We will never know but I think he might have. It would have been nice seeing as it is the only chance she will ever have of having one. Once again Fox puts episodes backwards in order. This episode was written by Jon Povill is one of my favorites for this season and show as a whole. We start off on a war torn world where the sliders are counting down the clock trying not to get shot. A man named Sid is beating his girlfriend in front of the sliders and Quinn goes to help, all the while Arturo tells him not to. The man gets knocked down and the sliders run off with his girlfriend. They jump throw the vortex, Quinn throws her through it while Arturo tells him not to. Sid follows them just before it closes.
Now I have issue with this. At the end of last season they said adding a 5th person would be a problem for the vortex but they add a 6th person and nothing happens. Was Quinn just off about how much the vortex can hold or is this a mistake? I'm guessing Quinn and Arturo were just off a bit with their math. Now we have another episode out of a movie, well kind of. They got the idea for this out of Escape from LA but it is nothing like that movie. The idea of being stuck in a city wide jail is such a cool idea. The sliders have 26 hours on this world. Sid attacks Quinn and a man breaks up the fight. Sid calls him LJ, it turns out he knows his double on the last world. Arturo explains to the man about the other worlds. LJ gives them bracelets that everyone in this city is supposed to be wearing. They show a guard the bracelet as an aftershock happens. LJ asks about how they are going to escape. He wants to get off world with them, but he hasn't come out and asked yet. They get to a room and Sid demands that they take them home today, Quinn tells them they can't control when they slide or where they go. Arturo bluffs Sid into letting go of Quinn and then yells at Quinn for causing this problem to begin with. Wade jumps to Quinn's defense but Quinn takes off to get some air. It's too much for him right now. The girlfriend kisses Quinn to thank him. LJ shows up to give them all the firms they have to fill out. The guard is not happy that Sid is missing. We learn about the buddy system. It seems that if one person does something wrong their buddy pays the price. Just our luck, Quinn is matched up with Sid. What is the price you ask? It's death. This slide can't come soon enough! Arturo and Remy are attacked while walking the street by someone trying to prove how tough they are. Arturo puts the man in his place and he backs down. Arturo is good with his words and acting like a hard ass. Wade and the girlfriend are at girls counseling meeting, Wade tries to explain to her why they can't get her home. The conversation turns to why she is dating Sid but she doesn't want to hear it. She loves the way people look at Sid. Quinn and LJ are looking for Sid and talking about what happens when they slide. LJ is liking the idea more and more. They catch up to Sid just as he is robbing an ATM. Sid freaks out when the paper is red and his bracelet lights up. Sid takes a hostage as the guards come to surround him. Quinn's bracelet lights up and LJ kicks him out of the cart. He has to walk home and make it there before anyone notices. An aftershock knocks him down and lets everyone see it. They try to shoot him but the aftershock has everyone running around and it hides him. Quinn gets Wade and they go looking for Remy and Arturo. The girlfriend thinks Sid will be fine but goes with them. The sliders all find each other and go to where LJ told them to go. The girlfriend tells Quinn that her LJ wasn't trustworthy. It is a little late for that now. LJ leads them into a underground tunnel. LJ tries to sell the timer to an underground black market. Arturo gives it to them but tells them that it doesn't work with them. They took out a part. LJ takes Wade hostage. The guards show up to arrest them all. Someone shoots out the lights and all hell breaks out. Quinn goes back for the timer. Quinn gets a hold of the timer and runs back to the others. They run down the tunnel as the cops and bad guys fight it out. They head back up to the surface but cops are waiting for them with Sid. He made a deal and sold them out. Arturo keeps blaming Quinn for everything while Remy defends him. It is a nice change from season 1 when Remy blamed Quinn for everything. The head guard tells the sliders that he will take one of them with him to another world. Whichever one of them flipped first would get to leave alive while the rest die. One of the sliders have flipped and are willing to help them. The guards come to collect Arturo who it seems is the one who sold them out. He even tells Quinn that when he gets home he will work out all of the bugs and call Sliding his own. Quinn tells him he will get him for his betrayal. Arturo tells him the timer has been messed with and he can't fix it without Quinn. Sid doesn't believe him but the girlfriend saves Arturo. The three other sliders are worried their plan didn't work. With 20 seconds left on the timer Arturo makes it back to the cell. Sid breaks free and rushes to them just as the vortex opens up. Sid gets there and starts to fight them but the girlfriend holds him at gun point telling him to back off, he says she doesn't have the guts and she proves him wrong. Shooting him dead. Wade reminds them they don't have much time. She tries to get the girlfriend to go with them as Remy runs into the vortex. Quinn hops in and Wade and the girlfriend make it in just as it closes. Seconds later the aftershock brings the whole room down. Now that is an ending! So why would Fox push the second episode of season 2 to episode 6? Who knows! Anyways the episode that is supposed to be episode 2 is Time again and world written by Jacob Epstein.
The episode starts off with Arturo and Remy drinking in a bar about to miss the slide. They head outside to find a private place to slide. On the way they see a car crash, followed by a shoot out. Now on this world all the women have mustaches. Very weird, anyways Wade runs up to the man who falls out of the car and is dying. He gives Wade a code word and a chip to hold on to. Quinn pulls her up and they rush to catch up to Remy and Arturo who opens the vortex. Wade makes it in just in time. Arturo tells Wade not to become emotionally invested in the world's they land on. Now what I don't get, why would he even bring that up? We know that this world is basically the same just a few hours behind but they don't know that yet. They have 36 hours on this world that is all but the same as the last except that the women look more like we know them to. Hairless faces. The same car crash and shoot out as before, only this time the person who was killed on the last world does the killing. Once more Wade runs up to the man who is shot just like before. This man happens to be a cop. The sliders once more go to their normal hotel run by the same guy on every world. The hotel makes them give finger prints before checking in. I don't know if I'd be ok with that. The hotel operator immediately calls someone to report the sliders. Wade keeps beating herself up over what happened when two people with guns burst in and tells them that they all need to forget everything that happened earlier. No matter what the police asks they have to pretend nothing happened. They will be watching them. Remy and Arturo want to run out to the country but Wade wants to stay. After all both men who died on both worlds told her the same name. Quinn ends up going with Arturo and Remy leaving Wade alone. But only for a few seconds before coming back to help her. After all they can't leave one of their own behind. Wade tells the cop, who all wear skirts because why not. I guess they are Scottish on this world. The police take down everything she tells them and get ready to go arrest the person she told them about. The two people who broke into their hotel room are cops, Quinn and Wade spot them in the police station but it doesn't look like they saw our heroes. The hotel manager gets arrested, things aren't looking good for the sliders. Once more Remy wants to run. Wade wants to try and figure out what is on the chip but Quinn points out that it is from another world. It turns out that the man they turned into the police is one of the last people who wants the Constitution to be the law of the land. On this world and most likely the last, J. Edgar Hoover became President and declared Martial Law. It also turns out that this world has the same CD formats as the last world. Wade and Quinn manage to open the file and find a digital copy of the US Constitution. Remy references his group and it tips off the store manager that they are not supposed to be there. He takes off like a bat out of hell. Now the sliders are looking for the supreme court judge that they sold out to the police to try and set things right. I hate to say it but if Wade just listened to Arturo they wouldn't have to be going through all of this. The sliders are having no luck finding him. They find out about a pirate radio and a woman named Natalie. Quinn tells her about the police and knowing about the judge and shows her the chip he has. She tells him to put it away and to follow her. It turns out that the Judge is about to surrender and read the constitution on the air. Before that happens the police storm the club. Everything starts to fall apart. The sliders and Natalie escape out the back and take off. The judge is arrested. The hope for democracy in America is dead. The sliders have 8 hours left. Remy and Arturo have no idea where Quinn or Wade are and they are getting worried. Quinn and wade show up and feel the two of them in on what happened. They come up with a plan, Remy shows up at the police station and tells the cops he wants the Judge to be set free with a pardon or they will go live with the constitution. They try to keep Remy in jail but he tells them that if his friends don't hear from it they will leak it on the internet. Later that night they show up ready to exchange the only copy of the constitution for the judge's freedom. Arturo is against it but Quinn points out that good ideas are useless with out good men to fight for them. Arturo counters by telling him that the idea of freedom is repeated every generation but only one ever came up with the constitution and had the impact on the world that the US did. The cops show up with the judge. Now my question is, once they have the disk what is to stop them from killing them all. Quinn solves this by saying they won't give them the disk till he is away. The judge gets in the car and Wade gives them the disk. Letting America's true values be lost to time. It is a sad sad day. The sliders say goodbye to the judge and Wade tells him things are as hopeless as they look. with that the sliders jump into the vortex, leaving this world behind. The next day, on that world in the computer store a few people find a file Wade left on the computer. It is the constitution and it quickly spread around the world. Wade saved the day! Season 2 of the greatest sci-fi shoots back with a bang in this episode written by Tracy Torme. Now the last season ended with Quinn getting shot just before they jumped through the vortex, with an added member no less. This episode starts with everyone standing around Quinn's tombstone, Wade kissing the man she saved.
Lucky it is all a dream. It seems that Quinn is fine. He was out more or less for 3 days. They got the bullet out of him. The man who slide with them is the one who saved Quinn's life and asked Wade to stay. She said no and he took off. The vortex opens and they slide. A weird hick laughs at them. He was in Quinn's dream. Could this mean something? Quinn may be doing better but he is still in pain. Remy looks for a hospital but all he can seem to find are sorcerers. A weird turn for Sliders, taking a mystic turn and leaving the sci-fi behind. It was a risky move but one that I think was smart. It shows the audience that this show can go almost anywhere and still make sense following their own rules. Torme proves himself to be a great writer once again. A sorcerer attempts to do a spell on Quinn to help him and Arturo is not happy. He tries to storm in to help Quinn but the deed is done. The sorcerer tells them he can't do anything about the bullet but he only could get rid of the headache. The bill is way to high for any of them to pay. The sliders run out on the bill. He swears to put a curse on them. The sliders are relaxing in the hotel room when Remy let's out a scream. There is a honest to god skeleton taking up shelter in there. I mean it isn't a life or anything but it is still weird. Some one sneaks up towards the room. Arturo opens the door allowing what looks like a grim reaper to enter the room. He points towards Quinn and gives him a summons. He is being sued. The sorcerer doesn't want to be paid anymore, he now wants Quinn's brain to pay the bill. The lawyer they got isn't giving them much hope. It seems that demon bounty hunters are on the hunt for him now. The sliders are in deep trouble. They need to find The Sorcerer! OK so to differentiate between the two we will call the man who is after Quinn the wizard now on. The sliders go to meet a card reader and she tells them that they need the sorcerer because he has the power to slide between worlds and can send them home. Could this be what they have been looking for? Could their journey be coming to an end? Our favorite cab driver from all the different dimensions drive the sliders to the sorcerer's house. They have to cross over a tiny bridge, it is the only way to the house. Remy is scared out of his mind where as Quinn seems to have more energy than he has had in a while. At least until he almost falls, that changes everything. It turns out that the missing part of the bridge is just a trick to make people think that there is nothing there but it really is. They make it across just fine. They make it inside the house and it is huge. Beyond big. The gang is left waiting to meet the sorcerer. Arturo can't stand this world or the views of its people. The hick's double tells them that they have to leave. The sorcerer has no time for them. He orders them to removed from the house but Quinn yells out that they are sliders and a voice demands to see them. The slider's are lead to the sorcerer himself. The sorcerer shows up as a giant hologram talking to the Sliders. It is all right out of Oz. He tells them that he is the master of the vortexs and can send them home if they prove to be friends. In exchange for helping them he demands they steal from the wizard for him. Arturo wants no part of it, he wants no part of any of this. He wants to spend the next 11 hours till the slide to hide. A bounty hunter captures them, not just any bounty hunter but one played by the great actor Phil Fondacaro in his first role on the show. He takes them back to the wizard. They manage to escape and find plans for a sliding machine. This is what the sorcerer wanted them to steal. Remy knocks out the wizard as they escape once again. They take the plans back to the sorcerer. The sorcerer sends them away after taking the plans but Quinn takes them back and goes running to the office while the others stop the aid. The guards storm into the room with Quinn and the hologram. Quinn runs and finds a room with one of his doubles running the machine. This episode is very much wizard of oz. The first of many episodes that parodies movies. Some are better than others. This one is very good. The sorcerer finds out that his aid sold his plans and has double crossed him. He has him sent out. The sliders meet with the sorcerer as he works on the timer. The sorcerer is in fact a slider, he slides to other worlds and buys goods to bring back to this world. It seems that the wizard wants the tech so that he can steal the market share. This Quinn wants to live his life for himself now just like our Quinn. The last act he wants to do for others is helping them home. This Quinn finishes his work on the timer and gives it back to the sliders. They open the vortex and jump through saying goodbye to the sorcerer. The sliders end up outside Quinn's house. Are they home? To the fence to decide! They only have 53 seconds to decide. All the stuff that has happened in the last few months and the fact that the fence doesn't make a sound convinces them that it is the wrong world. They open the vortex and slide off world. No sooner does the vortex close when Quinn's mom walks out with the gardener who tells her that he fixed the gate so that it won't make a sound anymore. It turns out that our heroes were home and slide away all because the damn gardener had to go and fix the gate. Now that is great story telling. Letting your heroes get so close to the finish line and pulling out the rug from them. It let's you think that an ending is possible. They can make it home. They just need to do it one more time Just one more reason I love this show so much!!!! Season 1 comes to an end in this episode penned by Jon Povill all about the evils of the lottery. The sliders land on a new world and right away find a cute little dog that Wade takes around town. She also starts a diary about what it is happening. Everyone on this world seems happy and everything is cheap. Arturo drops his wallet and some kid just runs up and returns it to him. They have ATMs that give you how ever much money you want. Arturo warns them to be careful, they only have 3 days here and they don't know all the rules. Remy take 5 grand, Arturo take $5 and Wade takes a grand. Two guys watching on talk about how brave they are. Makes you wonder what the catch for the money is.
This world even has public cars that anyone can take and drive. What a crazy world that just loves its people. The Sliders need to open their eyes and see that this world is far too good to be true. Something is wrong and they just looked a little harder they would see it. It seems that on this world there is only 500 million people. Quinn and Wade go horse back riding while Arturo and Remy go fishing. Quinn hits his head and falls hard. It seems that his and Wade's relationship is on a bit of a break. He wants to move forward but she doesn't. I feel like I missed something. She starts telling Quinn that she wants to stay on this world, it is better than being stuck on some hell world down the line. Quinn doesn't agree and it causes a rift between them. That night they eat the fish Remy and Arturo caught. Wade won the lottery. She gets the white card, it means that anyone has to give her anything she wants. It all seems too good to be true. And normally things that seem to good to be true are too good to be true. Quinn is the only one who seems to think about this. Wade is thinking about staying here and Quinn couldn't be more upset. She wants him to be happy for her but he just can't seem to bring himself to feeling that way. Remy started dating another winner. She says that security is so tight in case the right to lifers give them any problems. I like how none of them find it weird that they would attack here. Another winner Remy's date tells him she wants to spend the rest of her life with him, he seems weirded out by it and who can blame him. The right to lifers stop Quinn and give him a flyer, whatever it says makes him rush to Wade's side. Remy's date wants to have sex on the dance floor. I like how he gets lucky on every world. That man is a player. The two of them sneak away. Wade and her new date are really hitting it off. Arturo is starting to find out what the lottery winners really win. Quinn can't get in because Arturo is Wade's date. Quinn tells Arturo that winning is population control. They kill the winners. They inform Remy and Wade. They can't sneak Wade out of here and Quinn is jealous of her new date. Remy wants to bring his new date with them. Quinn and Arturo explain to him how adding more people to the vortex drains the power more and more and it might make it so that none of them can make it through. Arturo and Quinn argue about the merits of what this world does. Arturo says he doesn't agree with what they do as a man but as a scientist he thinks that it is far more humane than their own world. Remy tells his date he wants a future with her and she thinks he means to die with her. He tells her everything and she seems like she wants to go along with it. No one has seen or heard from Wade. Wade is with her date and she tells him the truth as well. Is everyone telling everyone about sliding? She tells him she doesn't want to die. It turns out if you try to cheat the lottery they will make you feel pain before killing you. She invites her date on the slide as well. He walks off. I like how they told Remy he is pushing it but Wade just invites more people. Remy shows up at his dates room and gets arrested. She turned him in. That is why you don't trust people, they just turn on you for money. Quinn and Arturo start to get worried about what is taking everyone so long. Quinn goes to find them. Remy's date kills herself right in front of him. He is then pulled away. He is going to be put to death in a very painful way. Wade tells Arturo they need to walk the dog so they can talk without being over heard. They spot Remy getting arrested. Quinn and Arturo go to find Remy and give Wade the timer. Telling her to slide if they don't make it back in time otherwise she will be killed. Protestors stop the prison van that is holding Remy. It gives Quinn and Arturo a chance to catch up with him. Quinn turns the mob against the police and gets them to help him save Remy. Remy is freed and the 3 guys rush back to find Wade who is hiding out in ballroom with the dog she found that keeps barking. They catch Wade but the other winner saves her. The other sliders get there just as the timer gets to zero. They have to go now. The vortex opens and they bring Wade's new friend with them. They all make it to the new world but Quinn has been shot and fall down. The episode and the season end with Wade screaming no over his motionless body. Is that the way to end a season or what? How could anyone not love this show? It seems that Fox aired the last two episodes in the right order, so that is good. This episode written by Tracy Tormé himself, starts off with Quinn in jail and his lawyer telling him that he needs to take the insanity pled, if he tells the judge about Sliding they would let him go. He tells her he isn't crazy.
In court the next day we find out that the crime is spray painting an over pass and the sentence is death. Damn this world believes in overkill! They open the vortex, beat up the cops and take Quinn through the vortex. He is still wearing the handcuffs. They have 3 days on this Earth and everyone here seems happy. Laughing a lot, all while looking at Remy. Someone asks him if he is here for the crying man convention. Arturo points out it means that they aren't home but Remy says this world is better. That people here are smarter and more enlightened here. They get swarmed by fans so they sneak into the hotel that always has the same guy running it. He is a huge fan of Remy. Quinn starts picking the locks of his cuffs with help from Wade. It turns out on this world Remy died 8 years ago. The news showed footage of our Remy walking and now everyone thinks that Remy has returned from the dead. The news comes to talk to his old manager for the convention. It turns out that our Remy turned this manger down on our world and he is the one who turned this Remy into Elvis more or less. The manger finds out that our Remy is here and thinks that he is the real one. He wants to find him and restart his career as well. Remy's fans tear him apart and Arturo as well when he goes to save him. The police get the manager inside. He tells Remy that he set up a concert that will pay a million dollars a song. Quinn points out that they slide at 9 and that would be in the middle of the show. It is too much of a risk but Remy says he is doing it. Wade points out that even a few songs would fix all their money problems. As the Sliders sneak out the back a fan knocks Remy out and kidnaps him. The Remy from this world learns about the concert on TV while the manger talks the Sliders out of calling the cops. Quinn calls anyways. Remy learns that his kidnapper is one of the spinning tops. The name of his group. He tells Remy to sign a letter saying that he stole all his ideas from him and Remy just starts laughing. This guy is crazy. The double walks in, he is a thinner version of Remy. He said he faked his death to get out of the business. The actor who plays him is the twin brother of the man who plays Remy. He tells the Sliders that he had the kidnapper locked up since he is crazy and if he has their Remy he will kill him. The sliders also tell this worlds Remy that they are Sliders and from another world. He has a hard time believing it, after all who wouldn't? The concert is going badly, the manager just keeps putting fake Remy's on stage. Meanwhile the Sliders and this world's Remy find him and save our Remy. The two Remy's meet and are weirded out about it all. Our Remy is jealous that this Remy got everything he ever wanted and walked away from it. This Remy talks about how it all just became too much of a good thing. This Remy tells our Remy that he can have his life, our Remy jumps at it and this world Remy tells him to be careful for what he wishes for. Remy tells the Sliders that he is staying here. They aren't happy about it but there is nothing they can do. Remy says goodbye to the Sliders and tell Quinn that he is sorry for all the times he blamed Quin for everything. This worlds Remy comes to watch the show. Wade lets it slip that the concert is a million dollars a song and he freaks out. The Sliders take off to find a place to slide away when this worlds Remy comes out on stage. Lucky Quinn spots him. Our Remy is at a loss. Now both Remys fight it out on who is the real one with a sing off. This world's Remy sells ours out as an imposter and sends him away. There goes Remy's dreams. It is all over for him, at least on this world. The poor guy. Remy hopes on the next world he will be even bigger. Well he is still the king, just one of many who sells ice cream. Poor guy. One of my favorite episodes from season one, Eggheads written by Jacob Epstein & Scott Smith Miller. The sliders end up stuck on this world for 5 days. There are scientists on all the posters and Quinn is on a giant billboard. People rush him and start asking for his autographs. It seems that on this world intelligence is prized and scientists are this worlds version of athletes.
Remy gets them a cab to escape from the crowd who all but climb on top of the cab. The Quinn and Arturo of this world are known as the Sliders, it seems they slide off this world a while ago. Quinn thinks that if he can use his doubles equipment than he can get them home. They rush to his doubles house. The house is for sale but the asking price is so high no one has bought it yet so the Sliders make themselves at home. Down in the basement there is no Sliding machine. It is starting to look like maybe he didn't slide. Quinn and Arturo decide to take over the lives of their doubles. On this world Arturo is the chairman of the university and just as famous as Quinn. Quinn is called down to practice for what seems to be athletic and intellectual at the same time. Quinn is the captain of the team and his men don't much care for his return. It turns out that the guy who was feeling in for him is working with someone who threatened Quinn to leave. It seems on this world Quinn is the best at this game. Arturo has a pretty young woman in his office, he is excited until he is served divorce papers. I get why they are taking over their doubles lives to try and make their way home but it seems to me that they are ruining their doubles lives and they don't seem to care or even give it any thought. Quinn is not doing so well in the game while Arturo figures out the woman divorcing him is his late wife. The poor guy. About half way through the game Quinn finally starts to get the hang of it. Quinn makes it and takes the square he needed to win the game. What the hell did I just watch? Remy lost all of their money betting against Quinn. They make it home and it seems the mafia is there waiting for Quinn. He is in trouble. He tells Quinn that if he throws the next match he will make the million dollars go away. Arturo goes to visit his late wife, or really his doubles soon to be ex-wife. He believes that his double is in Europe and Quinn's is on the run. That there is in fact no sliding device on this world. Quinn tries to quit the team but his teammate won't pass on his message, he makes Quinn tell the coach himself. The coach is not happy that Quinn is costing him everything. Quinn leaves but no sooner does he make it to the end of the field than he meets two FBI agents. He makes a deal with the agents to set up the mafia and still win the game for the coach. Arturo meets with his ex-wife. Quinn takes the field once more. He is kicking ass in the game. While he is playing, Arturo is recording a message for this worlds Arturo trying to convince him to fix things with his wife. He gives the tape to his secretary and tells her to give the tape to him the second he gets back. The mafia shows up and Quinn tells the coach to take him out, Quinn tells the coach about the player working for the mob. Things are getting tense in these last few minutes. The mob chase Quinn out of the arena and it is seen all over TV. They have 2 minutes till the slide and they rush up stairs trying to avoid being caught by the mob. They make it with just 30 second to spare but the Mafia get there with their guns drawn just in time. Things don't look good for our heroes till the FBI shows up. They sliders open the vortex and slide out, thus ending another great episode of this 90's gem. Some more jumping around in the viewing order thanks to our friends over at Fox. Episode 8 which should have been episode 6 written by Dawn Prestwich & Nicole Yorkin starts off with our heroes landing in what looks to be a jungle. They have about 6 and a half weeks until the next slide. Remy wastes no time in once more blaming Quinn for everything.
The sliders think they might be home, Arturo says that the food sold at the stand is the best in the world. They fight over how to split it. Arturo says that it could be home. Clinton is president, only it isn't Bill, it is Hillary. Hey maybe they didn't go to another world, maybe they just went to the future? No it's another world and hopefully she doesn't become our next president. They find out very soon that this world treats men the way that our world treats women. The four of them have no money and they have to quickly find jobs if they want to get a place to stay. Remy starts singing asking for change. Quinn tries to work but he can only get work as a nanny. Men have no rights on this world. Remy wears out his voice, but he sang enough to get them a room. They just don't have the money for real food. Wade on the other hand gets a job. She is working for the mayor. Who gave her a cash advance. They have money! The mayor needs people to help with the campaign and Wade gets the guys jobs. The Sliders are going to be having money soon! Arturo quickly gets into it with a woman on the elevator. She quickly puts him in his place. This is not the world for him, it is made even worse by the fact that the woman he hit on and got shot down by is the mayor. His new boss. Arturo is not fitting into this world at all. He is a bit of sexist himself and being on the other side of it doesn't sit well with him. A random guy talks to Arturo about his views and tells him that he has a offer that he might like. Quinn is in his interview and is quickly put down and treated like a sex object by the lady who is interviewing him. He doesn't feel comfortable in it but there isn't much he can do about it. Arturo didn't do as well and was turned away. The reporter from earlier asks Arturo for a few minutes of his time. He takes Arturo to a bar and they tell him that they agree with his views. They want him to run for mayor. He is in shock and doesn't have anything to say. He agreed and Wade tries to talk him out of it. Throwing his own words at him. He wants to help men get equal rights on this world. They slide on the same day the election is set to end so it works out perfectly. Wade and Quinn are dating, I don't remember that and I've seen this show a million times. I always remember them as flirting and skating around a relationship but never going all the way for it. A girl pulls up and picks Remy off the street telling him she can help him get signed. He goes with her to lunch to talk all about it. Arturo jumps right into his campaigning. It is not going well for him. He makes the news but as a joke. Wade keeps pointing out that men are bad and women are good. Wade and Arturo are the same on this issue but from the opposite sides. Wade tries to drag Quinn into the fight but he is smart enough to stay silent. Meanwhile Remy goes home with the lady who picked him. She is such a guy, right down to the horrible pick up lines. He asks about the record producers and she says all in good time and starts kissing on him. Telling him if he wants her help she has to help him. Arturos campaign starts gaining steam. Not a lot but a great deal more than anyone ever thought. He even gets a debate like he was asking for. He is doing good and his office is attacked. People are not happy with what he is doing. He gets a call with a bomb threat. Remy got laid is beyond happy about it. Quinn calls him, how did he get the ladies phone number? Unless Remy has been staying there a few days. Quinn is getting just as tired of this world as Arturo. He isn't liking how he is being treated either. The mayor calls Quinn into her office where she shows him a slam ad against Arturo. Quinn asks to talk to Wade, she tells Quinn that she had nothing to do with this. He is pissed at her for siding with the mayor over Arturo. Quinn quits and problems between the two are building. Quinn goes to see Arturo and tries to talk him out of continuing the election. Arturo says he has to, he is even going to stay on this world if he wins. Remy meets his new girls ex boyfriend who shows up uninvited and tries to chase Remy out. They get into it. Remy finds out that she isn't even a record producer. Someone shoots at Arturo. Things are getting worse and worse. Wade's sexism is getting more and more annoying. Remy is getting more and more hurt by this girl. She takes him for granted and he is starting to bitch and whine about it. She kicks him out. Arturo tries to throw the election. He thinks that if he withdraws it would throw men back many decades but if he loses it wouldn't hurt the cause. He plans to cry during the debate, turning the crowd against him. He storms off stage crying. The people who have been pushing him to become mayor come up and tell him that while he pushed some of his supports away he gained even more. It helped him instead of hurting him. He now has a good shot at winning. Arturo still hasn't decided on if he was going to stay or not. Wade and Arturo make a bet, if he loses than he is Wade's slave on the next slide. He is announced the loser and gives a speech telling his people to fight on. Arturo agrees to slide away. The sliders jump through the vortex, moments later it comes out that the numbers were wrong, Arturo won. He was elected mayor! He will just never know! The Sliders are on a paradise world and Arturo is stuck serving Wade hand and foot. Sucks for him, the slide lasts just over 9 days. |
