Welcome back to the Buffy reviews! On our brand new Channel! We left our nice safe home over at Blueroof Productions, to try and make it on our own over here at the new company The Uncanny Fans, own 100% by . . .Drum rolls please. . .Blueroof Productions. Basically we are just on a new website but nothing else has changed. We love you all. Let's get right into the thick of it. We are going back in time a bit for yet another issue of Buffy the High School Years. This time, it's the free comic book day outing entitled "No Need to Fear, The Slayer's Here" written by Kel McDonald and Paul Tobin with art by Rachel Downing and Yishan Li. It's a nice little throw away story about Buffy slipping in the mud and feeling a little down about herself. The next day she goes to the comic book store with Xander who tries to cheer her up. Once inside the comic book we see a lot of little easter eggs. There is an issue of Buffy season 8 in one of the bins, Xander tells her to check out the X-Men because he thinks she will like Shadowcat. Those of us who have listened to Joss Whedon talk over the years, know that Buffy was based in part on Shadowcat. That made me smile. We also see a little girl talking to Buffy about Sailor moon, not something I really watched a whole lot, but something that seems to get compared to Buffy a great deal so that was cool. Inside the next room, Xander finds the vampire that escaped her the night before and Buffy tosses him out into the sun. The little girl asks her mom why she never told her that there were superheroes in real life and Buffy leaves the store with a smile on her face. It was a nice little victory for our beloved Slayer!
