Burnt

So I signed up for Movie Pass and am loving it. I can't believe how great it is to just get up and go to a movie and not worry about paying for it. It's a nice world. I've already seen The Peanuts Movie, Spectre and Our Brand is Crisis. All great films using it.

Today I went and saw my fourth film with the pass and this is the one I want to talk about today. Burnt . It is such a great film. I don't know what I was expecting walking in, to be honest not a whole lot. I've never been much of a cooking person. I always hated those shows about cooking that my mom used to make me watch but I guess after seeing Chef I've been dying to see something in the same vain. Jon Favreau made one amazing movie that gave me a new appreciation for the art of cooking. I mean don't get me wrong I've always loved eating but cooking I always found boring until that film.

Throughout this movie I found myself comparing the two films over and over again and that isn't fair. They are very different in a lot of ways. Bradley Cooper played a bitter man who is trying to get his life back on track after letting it spirit out of control. We follow him on this journey and it is one hell of a ride. He pulls us in all the while keeping everyone else out.

Life is hard and sometimes we work so hard on what we want in this world that we lose track of everything else. We become so consumed with it that it becomes our whole world. Once we get it we don't know what to do with ourselves. We work so hard getting to the finish line that we feel lost and hollow once we arrive. Everything falls apart and we end up losing all that we worked for. I think that is a large part why people sabotage themselves. This film is all about how to pick up the pieces afterwards. In short it's a redemption story and a damn good one. One that I think everyone should run out and go see.
