Welcome to Bellwether Pictures, a company that Joss Whedon and his wife put together to create their own smaller tales outside of the studio system so that they don't have to answer to anyone else.
In this Joss Whedon penned tale about a man and woman who can see through each others eyes we are introduced to a thrilling concept. What if we found someone that we connected with on a level far more deep and intimate than we ever thought possible? Now what if that person already has somebody? As much as I always loved Joss Whedon's writing, this movie touches me in a far more personal way. A few years back I was writing in my patio and I saw a girl walk by. I could help thinking to myself how beautiful she was and how I'd give anything to talk to her. I saw her a few more times that day and decided to go for a walk. During the walk I thought a lot about what I'd say to her if I got a chance, she said hi to me and I blew her off because I was too busy thinking about talking to her. Only in my life could that happen. Turns out she was engaged but over the next few weeks we started seeing each other in secret. In the end she went back to him and I moved on with my life, but I have never connected with someone so quickly and thoroughly as I did with her. She changed my life in more ways than I care to admit. This movie reminds of that summer fling in so many ways. Like me, this guy was alone just trying to get by when he meets this girl by accident. I mean, you can't really see into someones head on purpose can you? Like my girl, Rebecca is also in a bad relationship and falls for a nice guy who reminds her what it is like to fall in love. At the start when they begin to see into each others lives they think they might be going crazy but before too long they figure out what is happening and build up a great relationship. Talking and getting to know each other all the time. It's the very definition of romantic. To be fair it is where all relationships are going. By time we get the iPhone 12 it will just be implanted in our heads and we can talk to each other mentally all the time. Weird to think about. While it is romantic to connect with someone the way they do, it would also be a crazy invasion of privacy. Can you imagine having someone talking in your head whenever they want? It would drive you crazy. What if it isn't someone you gel with? What if it is your worse enemy? What if it is someone you gel with but then you guys break up? As amazing as it could be, it could also be very scary.
