Ok now I’m well aware that the title of this makes me sound old but I’m only 23. I just find it harder and harder to believe the generational gap between people of my age and people who are only a few years younger. I work at an arcade with mostly people around the age of 19 and 20 and the stuff they say is unbelieveable. Now I don’t know about everyone else but growing up i lived and breathed movies like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Terminator and most of all Back to the Future. The kids I work with think the new star wars movies have better stories. That Indiana Jones and Back to the Future has no plot and that the third Terminator is the only good one of the lot.
Now if you are anything like me you have to be besides yourself. What has happened to this country that People would look at classics like the Terminator and Back to the future and say it lacks plots. Back to the Future is one of the all time great movies of all time. It’s the tale of a kid with big dreams and an anger problem who has a disfunctional family trying to deal with life shitting on him and giving him the chance to remake it in a way that works better for everyone. Not Biff but mostly everyone. But my coworkers look at the bad graphics, which in and of it’s self leaves me speechless. I see nothing wrong with how those movies look. Maybe I still watch it with the rose colored glasses from my youth but I think it’s a beautifully crafted movie. Nothing about it needs to be changed or up dated. It’s a coming of age story and a damn good one at that. Terminator. What is there to say about it. The first two movies were original amazing movies. It was what all scifi should be. Real people going thru crazy events that couldn’t happen. Now they said that the best star wars was ep 2 and 3. ep 2 is nothing more then a love story. But if you want a good sci fi love story then the first Terminator is the best there is. Take about star crossed lovers. A man from the future falls in love with a picture and goes back in time to save his dream women only to spend a day with her and die saving her. What could be more romantic. A emo kid who is love with a older woman and throwing fits when things don’t go his way. I think not. I just find it hard to beleive that people born not long after me see movies in such a different light and have never even seen classic tv like Gilligan’s Island or I dream of Jeannie. It’s a sad turn of events and this kids need to be school on good movies. and more important good scifi and despite what they say Transformer movies don’t count.
